In my art, I combined color pencil and chalk to bring out the nature of the owl by splitting the drawing into two pieces and showing contrast. My goal for this art work was trying to emphasis the owl and human shape and make it stand out the most. Some big ideas to look out for is how the human blends and turns into an owl, that was my main focus of the drawing. Overall I'm not satisfied with my drawing but I don't hate it either. After looking at the final piece I could definitely tell what I can improve. I also have a small idea of how an artist thinks thanks to my classmates. Their criteria for my work really opened up my mind more.

2nd Piece

Artist Statement:

At first I wanted to put my country history into one drawing and then show how it affected me, but then I realized that was a terrible and vague idea. I wanna keep more ideas for my other portfolio. So for my first drawing I focused on the kind of negative side of my country but also showed some positive sides to it. I wanted to show my personal development which in this drawing was the evolution of my anxiety just not in a bad way. How my anxiety came in a different form, like a more observant side of me. I used drawing pencils and a little bit prismacolors for my media. I am not satisfied with my drawing as my idea of using comics as my style of art didn't work. Also, some parts of my drawing look poorly made or unfinished. But I can definitely think of many ideas to improve this drawing.

For this piece I focused on the aspect of

gratefulness. To do this I used the landscape of

my country to represent the cracking and dry

land to assist this theme, and the water

represents one of the many things  I am grateful

for. It is only but an example that helps to give

better meaning to theme. At first this piece was

more about my personal character development

and that was the idea of my SI, up until my 3rd in

which I found my self stuck on what to do next.

And so I had changed my SI to explaining the

historical, current economy, and the future state

of my country. I used black ink and drawing

pencil, and my goal was to show contrast

between the background and what opposes it.

But wish I would have added color or some other

time of media to show better contrast. Although

it didn't turn out as my ideal type of drawing it is

definitely turned better out better than my first

piece, or at least that's what I think.

3rd Piece

My 3rd piece focused more on the development of my country in getting the recognition it needs. For this, I used the pyramids in Sudan, "The Nubian Pyramids", more known as the forgotten pyramids. The idea was to make a two point perspective where what is being presented starts off at the bottom then reaching the top. This was my idea to show growth and recognition that towers over land an is as important as any other place in the world. I only used drawing pencils and lots of shading to blend the whole drawing together. I was planing on using different medias but I ran out of time so I decided to stick with safe option. Overall I am not too fond of my art piece because as it turns out, the pyramid looks more like a building than an actual pyramid, and the whole drawing on it's whole looks unfinished and needs more color mediums.

4th Piece

Artist Statement :

For this piece I tried to do something new. I

thought to myself how I should represent my

country for it to stand out more. The big idea of

this art piece is talking about the economic state of

my country. Sudan has had an ongoing civil war for

the past few years but it has escalated recently.

This caused a lot of people to leave Sudan and try

to live in other countries with no money. This was

the inspiration for my art piece. I drew my piece

using fabric markers on a piece of clothing called

"Jalabiya", and that was kind of my way of making

it stand out using culture as part of my piece. The

cracks going outward are meant to be the people

leaving the country to live in another place with no

money. But during all that chaos the people of my

country still have faith and that's what the hands

represent, faith and hope in the darkest times. The

overall piece turned out pretty nice although there

are many things I'd like to add,  there are some

stuff to improve on.
